Barnum South 2013 summer Playoffs!

Schedule for Barnum Thursday E South

Through  minor twist of events, Disabled List dropped to 3rd in the standings due to a loss in their only game against ALPS.  It's a 4 team playoff with El Camino sneaking into the 4th spot.

Barnum has to be on the list of fields this series will cover.  It HAS to be.  It's flawless.

Das Boot 22 - El Camino 11

In the Barnum South nightcap, Das Boot brought the lumber to El Camino as the game was finalized by the mercy rule with one minute remaining after five innings.  Das Boot saw the resurgence of Derek Brown with a towering 3 run bomb and a home run out.  Due to the rain-out last week, Das Boot is now 1.5 games back of first place Disabled List, who beat The Outsiders last night.  

Trivia:  Which current Das Boot infielder was an All-American kicker over Adam Vinatieri?

League Rule:  If you step on the plate while hitting, you will be called out.

Das Boot wins in a defensive thriller highlighted by a clutch scoop at 1st by bearded in the 5thish inning.  In a game with somewhere between 3-5 lead changes, Das Boot held on for a hard earned victory.

Das Boot got out of the gates with a commanding lead that eventually reached 11 following a grand salami by Joey.  Entering the bottom of the 6th inning after time expired Wasted Talent put on a Das Boot esque rally to claim victory.

Shiloh for whatever reason had a 1.75 liter handle of Jameson at the game.  Christoph had a birthday.

Tonight's Game

As many of you may know, tonight is the first round of Major League Baseball's 2013 Amateur draft. Please don't mind me as I check my phone between every inning.  I know many clubs are looking for that 38 year-old "diamond in the rough" at Barnum Park during E-League slow pitch softball nights. I've spotted the scouts in the huge crowds we see on a weekly basis.

I'll keep everyone as up to date as I can with my phone calls and so forth. Gonna be a great night!

as you are the manager/player, Kroll, not sure the mechanisms required to work this, but i think its in the best interest of the franchise to lock Jay in long-term.  damn that catch was SO clutch.

Das Boot est 2007

I did quick search of my Das Boot emails and I think I may have stumbled upon a message from the inaugural season.  This is prior to the summer 2007 season at Barnum.  I believe we have played Meade St. Station (now El Camino) every season since except for the spring we played at Carberry and the summer at Kennedy, and also the rain-out cancellation in the spring 2013.  I don't have any idea what happened to the Steamy Piles, and no recollection of our games against them.  Apparently this spring was not the first time practice was completely blown off.

Subject: Softball Schedule is Up

Das Boots - The schedule is posted.  We start the season a week from tonight at 8:30 against Meade St Station.  Will they become arch rivals, or will it be the team with I believe is one of the most clever names - The Steamy Piles.  It is a bit of a drag there are only 6 teams in our division, but on the plus side, the latest games we have are 8:30, not 9:30.

I believe our starting pitcher Ross will be missing our season opener, so I'm taking volunteers on pitching the opener.  Anyone?

Also, I general roll call is in order.  Please let me know your status for next week.  I guess if I don't hear from you, you're not coming.

Das Boot Spring Recap

The Barnum South spring softball season started with a bang in an extra inning slug fest that resulted in a hard earned victory for the veteran E-league Das Boot squad in the opening night finale against the lowly Outsiders.  Fast forward to the match up game at season's end also against the Outsiders, Das Boot put up a much more decisive victory with a mercy rule drubbing.  Had it not been for a couple of rain outs this spring against arch rival El Camino (formerly Meade St.) and Balls Deep, Das Boot had a good chance at finishing in the top half of the standings.  (I blacked out for much of what happened between the first and last game.)
